Waverley Writers of FOWL held its 44th meeting on the 3rd Sunday of March from 2-4 pm in the Theory Room in Waverley Library.
Although we had a strong storm event on that day, we were delighted that 8 people managed to turn up for the meeting, which Anne Skyvington convened.
As is customary, all 8 participants presented writing during our session. The pieces were excellent. We heard 6 novel and 2 biographical excerpts. Once again, feedback was deservedly positive.
We kept telling each other afterwards, what a wonderful meeting it had been, a sure sign of success! Congrats to all members present for contributing to this.
We were too busy reading and debating our work to discuss other recent publishing events linked to our writers. However, we did confirm member Di Alperstein’s CHANGE OF DATE re the launch of her collaborative book, Languages of Sydney: The People and the Passion. Published by Candlin and Mynard, this book is aimed at multicultural classrooms. It will enable teachers to incorporate their students’ backgrounds into programming, with the aid of silhouettes of relevant cultural information.
Di’s launch, which will present in the form of a workshop, will take place at the State Library on SATURDAY 30TH MARCH from 3-4 pm, in the seminar room downstairs.
We hope to see many of us there to support Di. It should be a lot of fun.
Finally, owing to the Easter weekend and the resulting closure of the library, there will be NO MEETING IN APRIL. This is unfortunate but unavoidable.
Therefore, Waverley Writers’ next meeting will take place on Sunday 19th May 2019, from 2-4 pm in the Theory Room in Waverley Library.
We are hoping to see you then. In the meantime, keep writing!
