WAVERLEY WRITERS OF FOWL REPORT to FOWL (Friends of Waverley Library) COMMITTEE, November 2018

As Susan Beinart was unable to attend this session, I am writing this report, by recreating her excellent layout and format.

Waverley Writers of FOWL held its 41st meeting on the 3rd Sunday of November from 2-4 pm in the Theatrette in Waverley Library. There were 7 people present at the meeting, which Anne Skyvington convened.

Before our feedback session began, member Maureen Mendelowitz spoke about the upcoming book launch of her second novel, Alone not lonely to be held at the JewishCare Community Lounge, 3 Saber Street, Woollahra, on Monday, 3rd December from 6pm-8pm. Members were reminded to send an RSVP to Maureen so that she can gauge how many visitors will turn up.

During the meeting, 6 participants presented writing for feedback. There were 3 novel excerpts, 2 memoir excerpts and 1 discussion about how a poet self published a collection online using Pages.

As usual, feedback was lively and offered in a respectful manner. It was, indeed, another successful gathering of writers.

We briefly discussed how to celebrate the end of 2018 next month. It was suggested that perhaps the format from last year might be repeated. That is, we brought along feedback excerpts as usual or chose to offer an entertaining piece, without expecting feedback. The latter could incorporate Xmas themes if desired. We met in a café afterwards to share conversation, coffee and cake. Please let me know if you approve of this.

The next meeting of Waverley Writers, will be on Sunday, 16th December, 2018, from 2-4pm in the Theory Room in Waverley Library. This will be our last meeting until February, 2019.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the library in December.

Anne Skyvington,
